On 12 September 2024, our smart cloakroom solution was presented to the public at the sold-out Peter Fox concert in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart. It was not only an exciting event, but also the first major use of our smart cloakroom solution at a major event.
The challenge: efficiency and comfort at major events
With 12,000 visitors in the Schleyer-Halle, the demands on cloakroom and baggage management were enormous. Long queues, staff shortages and the increasing desire for digital, cashless solutions pose major challenges for many event venues. This is exactly where Variocube comes in: Our intelligent locker systems offer a modern, digital and user-friendly alternative to traditional cloakroom solutions. 💼📱
Thanks to the SafeCube software, visitors can store their personal belongings independently and easily in our lockers - without long waiting times, cashless and with maximum security. The lockers can be operated either via a web app or directly via the system's display. The rental fee is paid either at the system's payment terminal or directly online during the booking process if the locker is reserved via the WebApp.
How does the system work?
Our smart locker system combines state-of-the-art technology with a high level of user-friendliness. Visitors can book and open their lockers quickly and conveniently via a web app or directly via the locker system's touchscreen display. This flexibility makes it easy for all visitors to store their personal belongings securely and easily - from jackets and bags to larger items of luggage.
In the Schleyer Hall, both internal lockers for smaller items and external lockers for larger items of luggage such as travelling bags and helmets were used. This combination makes it possible to optimally fulfil the different needs of visitors and efficiently manage the flow of visitors.
Technical innovations: An expandable, mobile locker system.
A particular highlight of our indoor locker systems is their mobility and modularity. The individual units consist of a main unit, which is equipped with a display and a payment terminal, and several sub-units, which only contain the lockers. These sub-units are connected to the main unit via a cable and can be flexibly moved to the desired location.
This structure allows the number of available lockers to be scaled at any time by connecting additional sub-units to a main unit. Alternatively, several main units can also be combined with one or more sub-units in order to optimally cover demand. This flexibility makes it possible to position the locker systems at the event location as required and to adapt them at any time.
Feedback from our partners and visitors
During the event, we had the opportunity to exchange ideas with our partners in the Schleyer-Halle and gather valuable feedback. René Otterbein, head of the Hallendous department, was enthusiastic about the practical application and the positive impact on event operations:
"We are very proud to be the first large venue in Germany to introduce the Variocube system. This will greatly relieve the traditional cloakrooms, especially for large shows. We can also offer a cloakroom service for smaller events using this system. Both are of course great and very convenient for our visitors."
Visitors were also impressed by the uncomplicated handling of the smart cloakroom and the ability to store larger items securely - a real benefit for the event service!
Why Variocube's smart cloakrooms are an important building block for the future of event logistics.
The introduction of our locker system at the Peter Fox concert was not only a success, but also an important milestone for the future of event management. More and more venues are looking for intelligent, digital solutions to meet the increased demands for convenience and security.
With Variocube, we not only offer a solution that makes everyday life easier for visitors, but also gives event organisers the opportunity to make their processes more efficient. Fewer staff, no cash handling and more flexibility are advantages that make our system unique.
A look into the future
We are proud that our pilot project in the Schleyer-Halle has got off to such a successful start and look forward to using our Variocube locker system in even more venues in the future. We will continue to focus on the needs of our partners and visitors in order to continuously improve the experience for everyone involved.
